Hi Everyone,

Many thanks to everyone who responded to my query regarding the display of non-Roman diacritics in our catalog. Beth Hoffman from Innovative contacted me about my question and is working with me on this project which will not require downtime. As stated in the responses--it is an issue of using the correct font--Arial Unicode MS. The information shared by the wonderful participants of this list has given me a much clearer understanding of the problem and I greatly appreciate your time.

Regards,
Janet

When the records display in transliteration in our catalog, little boxes often appear in the record. Innovative told me that in order to have bibiliographic information display in non-Roman characters, Innovative needs to restructure our database in order to store/index the non-Roman character sets (Unicode). We have no plans to purchase MARC records on non-Roman characters--we just want to display these records with the correct characters. > > Has anyone done this? If so, could you send me the link to your catalog so I can take a look at the display. Restructuring the database entails about 3 hours of downtime and I am always very careful to make sure that any change is worth the downtime. Many thanks!> Regards,> Janet Fine Department Head, Circulation and Computer Services Great Neck Library 159 Bayview Avenue Great Neck, NY 11023 (516) 466-8055 ext. 205> > --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts ---> multipart/alternative> text/plain (text body -- kept)> text/html> ---> --> This message was distributed through the Innovative Users Group INNOPAC list> Public replies: INNOPAC at innopacusers dot org> Update your subscription options: http://innopacusers.org/mailman/listinfo/innopac
