We have just gone through this with two of the libraries in our consortium. We found that taking them out of the Hold Pickup Locations table also removes them from the title paging priority table, and I don't know of a way around this.

Until last year, we just used Item-level paging, which separated the paging function from the hold pickup table; however, with title priority paging, the setup is more intertwined, and we couldn't separate out the two.

If you have more questions, feel free to contact me.

Subject: [IUG] Temporary location closure and title priority paging

Good day, all.

One of our sites will be closed to the public sporadically during a building remodel.

Staff will continue to work at the site. So in theory we could continue to supply
patron requests through paging. But we need to prevent patrons from choosing the
site as a hold *pickup* location.

Our consortium uses title priority paging. We allow patrons to place holds from the
OPAC.

Does anyone have prior experience with managing such a circumstance? Specifically,
have you found it possible to suppress the site from the pickup location list, but
still allow for title priority paging to page the site?

I've been poring over the "Location Closing Temporarily" FAQ on CSDirect, and even
talked a bit with support staff at III. The FAQ implies that removing the site from
the pickup locations table will also prevent the site from being paged. Although the
logic of that is not entirely clear to me.

Please contact me if you have any experience to share.

Thank you,
