We use Tera Term pro
http://ttssh2.sourceforge.jp/ also on win xp. For me this is the best free telnet client going, supports SSH and has a pretty good (and easy) macro writing language. There are a lot of jobs that I could not do without my macros.

In our consortium some people including me are using PUTTY Telnet and SSH client and we fount It very pleasant and usefull.
You can download It from here:

and It's very easy to configure.
