Our situation is the same. We have one person making the changes and
have made few alterations since we went live in 1998.

Subject: Re: [IUG] Keyword SYNONYMS
When we first automated back in 1992, we agreed that only one person
(me) would enter the keyword synonyms, even though there were three of
us at that time who functioned as co-coordinators. We entered the
standard list suggested by Innovative and a few extra ones. Since 1992,
I add about one word a year as public services librarians bring them to
my attention.
Globalisation/globalization was the most recent addition to our list.
The need was noted in a library instruction class.
We don't make any real effort to seek out synonyms, but reviewing your
search history might be a good way to find them.
We just added Spell Check this semester, so I can't speak to the
dictionary issue.
One last comment: we have a librarian on our staff who once worked at
library where a keyword synonym list had never been created. He really
likes that we have it here.

Please,
Just wonder how other libraries handle "Keyword SYNONYMS"? How often?
How many staff involved? Who searches and selects? Who merges the words?
How is it related (or not) to having more or less dictionaries; index
setup; or view similar items?
I know from page 101836 once words are merged, there is no way
back.Thanks,
