Just an added comment for clarification.... If you are using FTP from
home, unless you are using VPN to get into your institution's network,
you will probably not be able to get to the III server. I often do work
from home and using VPN and remote desktop, I am easily able to do all I
need to do (including loading wwwoptions). --Margaret

Hi Joanna,
I just recently went through this. (Note: I am a newbie, so I may not
sound like I know what I'm talking about. ..well .... But all this did
work.) IUG folks were so helpful!
Copying over all the files other than the wwwoptions file was easy --
get into Web Master, in Live select everything and download to PC. Then
upload everything from PC into Staging.
With the wwwoptions file, I lost steam (especially working from home) in
trying to get the external ftp to work. The manual explains (on page
107010) how to set up FTP connections to your live and staging
directories using 3rd party FTP programs. Should be so simple, but it
just wasn't working for me. Might work for you.
But even easier -- Based on advice I got, I grabbed the Live and Staging
wwwoptions files --- in a browser, just go to:
http://yourCatalog/screens/wwwoptions, - it's formatted better if you
copy from the "page source" for the wwwoptions web pages. Use a clean
text editor, not something like Word. Making a copy of the Staging file
is just for a backup.
And then I got into the klunky Innopac (that's the right name for the
character-based mainframe-looking interface?) to where you edit the
Staging wwwoptions file. I deleted everything and pasted in the Live
wwwoptions file and saved it. Voila!
Restart the staging server after this. It seems like it took a few
minutes for everything to propagate.
good luck! El Experto, Vicki Hain

Is there an *easy* way to replace "staging" with "live"?!
I'm hoping I'm not the only neglectful / careless person who has been
messing around in staging, and selectively copying stuff that she
likes in to "live", without doing a complete replace....am I ?!!
I want to mend the errors of my ways and make both files match, as
well they should.
Is there a quick and easy way to do this? IE, besides going in to
each wwwoption and comparing the two...then, if different, copy /
paste / delete.
Thanks.
Joanna
