Good morning Allen -- Our selectors create carts on the MidwestTape
website. I download the cart, creating a brief bib and order record in
III. We have our media cataloging done through the cooperative program
with MidwestTape and OCLC. MidwestTatpe sends me a file of full bibs and
items to match and overlay on the existing brief bib. We also receive
electronic edifact invoicing from MidwestTape. It works great. We have
worked with Randy Selhorst at MidwestTape. If you want to contact me
I'll be glad to help.
Our workflow is entirely different with B&T.

Subject: [IUG] Midwest Tape and Baker and Taylor Ordering
We are beginning to use our new Acquisitions system and have a few
questions for the group. Our preference is to be able to use the vendor
websites to place our orders and then download those orders/MARCS/Brief
Bibs to Millennium. This seems to be working with BWI, but B&T and
Midwest
are creating headaches because the people to whom we are speaking don't
seem to understand what we want to do.
1 - Does anyone else go to the websites for these vendors to place their
orders?
2 - If so, if you use B&T, do you use its TitleSource product or are you
able to place the orders and receive the MARCS/Brief Bibs/Order records
from their basic website.
3 - If you order from Midwest, was the company able to set-up a template
in
which you can place your fund/location, etc. to facilitate receiving the
orders?
Thanks for you help!
Allen
