Hi Bob,

Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for. I have a very happy TOC entry person too.

I've finally updated our WebOPAC to the point where we now have a
briefcit.html file and record browse displays.

We have a large amount of 970 TOC data for CLE materials.

Record browse is great because of the item availability information, but
it does not have the functionality of the extended index browse where
you can browse by author and see the 970 title associated with a 970
author.
. . .
Is there a way that I could make the author browse of a singular author
go directly to the extended index display without being automatically
pushed through to the record browse display, or is there a way to have
the best of both displays?

If the search results in records, then you'll get the record browse; I don't believe there's a way around this. But is this sort of what you're looking for? There are two titles from 970 fields and one from a 245 for this author entry:
<http://www.library.lafayette.edu/search/a?SEARCH=Stone+Jacqueline+Ilyse>

If so, you can achieve it by using the uppercase T (for "best" t-tagged field) in the linkfieldspec token thusly:

<div>
<!--{linkfieldspec:VbT}-->
</div>
<div>
<!--{fieldspec:Vbt245:ab}-->
</div>

In the example search provided, this gets you the title from a 970 field as the prominently-displayed title, with the 245 underneath.

Possible downsides: (a) you get the 245 title showing twice when the "best" title is from the 245, which I guess isn't always such a bad thing, depending on how you code it; (b) you get multiple entries in the record browse for the same book when the author has two chapters in the book, but this can be an upside if you're interested in seeing the author's individual works listed and can deal with the confusion of having the "next" book be the same as the "previous" book.

If that's not what you're looking for...never mind.
