Reference and Instruction Librarian
July 2008 - June 2009
Grinnell College Libraries seek a librarian to fill a temporary
appointment with rank as Assistant Professor. The appointee will work
assigned hours at a reference desk (the schedule may include day,
evening, and weekend hours), provide Library Lab and other
by-appointment consultations, teach basic-level information literacy
classes, and fulfill other responsibilities depending on library needs
and the appointee's interests and skills. Requires: a graduate degree in
librarianship from an American Library Association-accredited
institution, excellent oral and written communication skills,
self-motivation, ability to be effective and tactful in working with a
diverse campus community that makes heavy demands on library services,
and a preference for working in a collaborative environment. Preferred:
background and interests in the humanities or history. Recent graduates
are encouraged to apply. Salary range of $45,000 or higher, depending
on qualifications.
The position will be available in July 2008, with the appointment
extending through about June 30, 2009.
