- Subject: Re: [IUG] Installing Expect at a turnkey site
We use expect quite a bit and are also a turnkey site. All the expect
scripts that we use are run off of another system and interact with the
III server via the innopac interface over ssh/telnet. We have
scheduled scripts on one of our linux servers, and I run several just
from my windows xp machine on demand (tape initialization). I don't
believe you need to have it installed on the III server unless you need
to interact with system files directly, without going through an
interface provided by III.

I would like to install Expect on our server so we can automate some
processes, such as updating lists and initializing our backups. We are
a turnkey site and it is unclear to me if we can do this without
intervention from III. Does anyone have tips for accomplishing this (or
words of caution)? Thanks so much, in advance.
