Hi Edward,

At MSU, all of our SSH and Millennium are behind the firewall which will
only permit access to selected range of IPs associated with our library
buildings. For some staff that have special needs accessing those from
home, we setup VPN and that has been working very well. I have done
large create lists and massive record loads and never had any problems.
You do need to set up the VPN service so people would have to login to
it and access SSH or Millennium as if they are coming from the library.
In our case, other than the VPN authorization, we don't have special
Millennium authorizations setup particularly for remote access.

You used to be able to turn on the data compression in Millennium, to
give certain protection to your date, I don't know if that is still an
option now. We found it slowed down the connection quite a bit.

Hello All,

We have relatively restrictive settings for logging in with Millenium
and SSH to the character based interface. I was wondering if any of you
have opened this up so that staff could work from home? If so what has
been your experience? Any problems?
