Not to be a stick in the mud, but has anyone submitted this as enhancement request? Custom scripts can be a double edged sword.

We went through this also. I traced the problem to the "Supporting functions" part of the script (down around line 350). Here's what worked for me:

-Comment out the entire "for Internet Explorer" section in the supporting functions, beginning with "/* at cc_on @*/" through "/* at end @*/".
-In your patronview_web.html file, insert the following after your toplogo token:
<!--[if IE]><script defer src="/screens/sorttable.js"></script><![endif]-->

Hi,
We've got the set up on staging but haven't moved it to
production since we keep getting the "This page contains both secure and
nonsecure items" warning when using IE. The warning comes up whenever
you click on your reading history, fines, items checked out, etc so it
can be sort of annoying. I know that we could change our browser
settings but is there any other way to eliminate this warning? Judy

It goes right after

delete row_array;
};
}

I made other changes earlier in my script, so it doesn't quite match up
with yours; looks like the right spot in yours is line 168. It needs to
be inside the for(var i=0; i<headrow.length; i++) loop.
