Hi all,
Does the act of deleting an attached item record have any effect on the
bib suppress code for the bib to which it is attached?
At the end of the year, we deleted item records for materials that had
been weeded from the collection.
Some of these were the last copies of a given title, but most still had
other attached items remaining. Some of these attached items were
billed items that we can't delete yet. These billed items are suppressed.
So, for example, a given bib could have had 1 weeded item and 2 billed
items attached. The weeded item was deleted at the year end. The 2
billed items remain, but are suppressed. The bib should be suppressed
too, as there are no viable copies. However, the bib suppress code
shows as available. There are many bibs that I thought were suppressed,
but now are showing up as unsuppressed in the catalog.
I am just checking to be sure that the process of deleting attached
items has no effect on the suppress code of the bib to which it is
attached. It doesn't seem likely that the deletion would affect the bib
suppress code, but I thought I would check just in case.
I checked the archives on this, and didn't seem to find anything on the
topic. I checked the manual, but didn't find anything either.
Any information on this would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
Tricia
