[IUG] History question: Request Feature

I'm trying to put together a timeline of key events in our use of the
III system.  Can anyone tell me if the Request feature has always been a
part of Innopac (before the Web Opac)?  I know Berkeley Public went live
with III in 1991, but I'm not sure if we started out with the Request
feature.
