- Subject: [IUG] Two questions regarding My Account pages
Hello - I hope you will tolerate two questions from a non-techie
librarian who is helping our library to finalize what our My Account
pages will include when we go live with Millennium in February. First,
I've noticed that many libraries allow patrons to change all parts of
their ID information, including address. As I understand it, there is no
notification to the staff if this is done. If you allow that, aren't you
concerned that patrons who move out of your district could continue to
use their library card numbers online when they are no longer district
residents?
Second, I've noticed that most libraries place a Start Over link on the
page that comes up when the patron clicks a My Account link. This link
leads to the catalog. Why wouldn't the link be Search the Catalog? It
seems counter-intuitive to "start over" from what is essentially a
starting point.
I would appreciate any insights you can give me regarding these two
points. Thanks, Jane Trump, Cook Memorial Public Library
