Re: [IUG] Receipt printing defaults and Windows XP

Hi Carol,
Thanks for the suggestion but it's no good for us. Staff use this login at places other than the enquiry desk so would pickup their own local printer logins, and we don't think we should have to make any changes to Millennium anyway as it was set this way and working fine before moving to XP.
Any other suggestions from the list would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Natalie

Try this setting to see if it fixes your problem -
Login Manager

Choose "Last used on workstation for login".

Hello,

We have a long-standing problem that began after we moved to Windows XP. On W2K at the Enquiry Desk we had receipt printers (Citizen printers) as local printers for receipts and a networked A4 paper printer for any other printing. Receipts printed to the receipt printer without problem, and everything else printed to the A4 problem with no problem without having to set up either by hand every day. The A4 printer was the PC's default printer. The receipt printer settings are set in the manager-controlled option - printing to use login defaults:
Receipt printer: Select local printer on startup & Enable direct text printing.

When we went to Windows XP the receipt printer stopped being picked up by the settings as the default printer for receipt printing. It now recognises the A4 printer as the default receipt printer (because it's the PC's default printer, perhaps?). Now every day we have to set the receipt printer setting by hand to the Citizen printer.

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem when changing to XP? Or have any light to shed on this at all? We've had Innovative check the system settings side of things (which hadn't been changed at any point) and they gave us the all clear, so I think it must be to do with the change to XP

Thanks in advance,

Natalie
