Hi Sue,
I was in the same position as you about two weeks ago. We updated some of
our computers and needed to get some new barcode readers. We got some
cheaper wand-style ones (Unitech MS100-4G) for some light-use areas and a
Symbol LS4278 wireless gun-style for the circulation desk. We are a small
library and find the trigger-style gun adequate for our purposes, but I
can see how a busy library circ desk would find the trigger-style tiring.
Both types were pretty easy to program, though the Symbol one did take a
little longer and you needed to print out some pages from the accompanying
disk to program it for Codabar. We just got them set up recently, but both
seem to work very well. Good luck.
