We're in the process of implementing patron self-registration and we use
Telus. I'd be interested in the answers to your questions as well.

I have two additional questions. Do the cards generated by
self-registration contain alpha characters? What version of Telus are
you using? We're currently on 3.2 and our installation doesn't support
barcodes with non-numeric characters?

Thanks,

Subject: [IUG] Self Registration and Telus

Hello,

We want to implement the Online Patron Registration as an E-card feature
which would allow users to access the library's resources remotely
without ever needing to come in if the customer doesn't want to. We
also have Telus timeout software and have found that the E-card users
would be able to access the computers if they do come into the library.
Staff are concerned that users will figure this out and create multiple
e-cards just so that they can use the computers for longer than they are
supposed to. Are there any other libraries that have implemented the
Online Patron Registration and also have Telus timeout software? If so,
has this been an issue and/or how have you dealt with it?
