I've done something like this in ASP, but I'm sure you could do it using
PHP with something like the $REMOTE_ADDR variable.

Your script would need to compare $REMOTE_ADDR against a list of your
internal networks. If the address is internal, present the internal
link, and if it is external, present the external link.

Subject: [IUG] Proxy server load

We're attempting to alleviate the load on the III/proxy server to combat
slow database article download times. Previously, all links to
subscribed database content contained the 0- rewrite, which directed all
requests through the proxy, which in turn prompted the login if a user's
IP was outside the campus range. We'd like to avoid sending on-campus
requests through the proxy with the rewritten URL; a stop-gap measure
has been to post two links for each resource, labeled "on-campus use"
and "off-campus access," as seen here:
http://library.auraria.edu/findit/databasesindexes/dbaseindex.php

Any tips or tricks on doing this quickly and easily, without maintaining
two links to each resource?
