Re: [IUG] briefcit and 856

I originally sent this question during the big list problem at the end
of August and realized that, if it did get posted, I never saw it. So
here it is again. Apologies if you saw it before.
Here at GCPL, AV materials account for a large chunk of our circ. And
much of that AV material is on disc. We have a disc resurfacing machine
and use that to repair discs that patrons or staff report as damaged.
However, we would like to make this process more regular and do
continual maintenance on the collection. The goal would be to resurface
each disc after every 40 circs. We certainly can create lists of items
with total checkouts within a certain range; ask the branches to pull
those items and mark them as Repair; send them in for resurfacing; add
an item note to indicate that the disc was resurfaced; and then send
them back to the branches. However, we have seven branches and a lot of
AV, and it will be a chore to manage lists that way. Is there anyway
to make the system track circ and flag items for us so that we could
deal with items individually as they crossed the threshold of 40 circs,
or 80 circs, etc?
I appreciate hearing from anyone else who is doing this kind of
regular maintenance on a collection, or who just finds the problem
interesting and has a good idea on how to manage it.
