What if you just suppressed the {856link} and {more856link} tokens? That
way, none of the 856's will display, and all of your results would
behave the same: click on the title to see the bib record. If you're not
going to show any of the 856's in the list of results, I'm not sure why
you would want a duplicate link to the bib record in their place.

Or maybe I'm not understanding exactly what you want.
