Greetings Everyone,
Currently, we only allow our professors to put bib-level hold requests on items via our WebOPAC. This includes items that ARE available on the shelves, and we page them for our professors. We monitor the patron request file and manually process these requests. Other patrons can have manual holds placed by our staff at the Circ desk on items which are currently checked out only.
We will be implementing My Millennium soon, and would like to allow all our patrons to put bib-level holds on items via the OPAC, and have the holds automatically generated by the system. Non-professor ptypes would NOT be able to request items which are available on the shelves (denyifavail), but our professors must be able to request ALL items, including those which are available.
The problem is that it seems impossible to limit requests for available items by ptype - it is all or none, on or off. If this is the case, then we will continue to allow online holds only for our professor ptype. Other patrons will not be able to take advantage of the holds functionality via My Millennium.
I have studied the Patron Blocks table, Setting Patron Request Parameters, the Loan Rules Table, the Loan Rule Determiner Table, the Request Rule File, etc... I've been told by two iii techs that this can't be done.
Has anyone found a way to do this, and if so, how?!
Best Regards,
