- Subject: [IUG] Reading History Question
We want to implement the Reading History feature for our users. We're
now in the process of explaining the Reading History feature to managers
outside of public services. They have reservations about patron privacy
and confidentiality IF this history of checkouts remain on the server
even after the patron has deleted them from his/her record and opted
out. They understand that this is completely voluntary, that a patron
has to choose to use this service and that they can end it at any time.
Did any of you who are using this service run up against resistance? If
so, how did you respond? This is one of the most asked for services by
patrons here, but that doesn't make a difference.
Do any of you know if the checkout information remains on the server and
connected to the patron? I think the concern is that if it does, then
some government agency could possibly access it if they chose to do so
anytime after the fact.
Thanks in advance for any help!
