- Subject: [IUG] survey for authority vendor and automated authority processing users
UNC is looking at possibly using Automated Authority Processing, but we
have questions due to also using a vendor, LTI, for authority
processing. Please take a moment to respond so that we can make an
informed decision.
What authority vendor do you use?
1) Do you use an authority vendor but do not use the Millennium
Automated Processing?
A) Do you allow your authority vendor to overlay your bibs
and make corrections to headings and that is the extent of your
authority processing?
B) Do you not allow the authority vendor to overlay your
bibs and someone on your staff does the authority processing from
reports provided by the authority vendor?
a) How does this work for you?
b) Why did you choose not to use Millennium's
Automated Processing?
2) Do you use an authority vendor and use Millennium Automated Processing?
A) Do you allow your authority vendor to overlay your bibs
and make corrections to headings?
a) Does Millennium's Automated Processing undo
any edits that your authority vendor changed due to matching on a 4xx?
B) Do you not allow your authority vendor to overlay your
bibs and rely on Millennium's Automated Processing to make the changes
for you? (Just using the authority vendor to give you new/revised
authority records)
a) Are you satisfied with the way this works?
or do you have pros and cons that someone should be watching out for
when they turn this feature on?
b) Do you get reports from your authority vendor
of changes that you should be making? Do you ignore these because
Millennium's Automated Process handles these changes? Or do you work
from both reports?
Would you be willing to receive another email from me if I think of more
questions?
Thank you so much for your time and assistance with this survey.
