Yes, that's one of the problems I'm trying to address with the 856 link, too.

I was successful with one part of my query to the list - that of a suitable material type icon. Here's an example:

http://roc.rodmanlibrary.com/search/t?SEARCH=antiques+roadshow+television

Recorded Books gave me permission to modify their logo for the icon. They said that other libraries may also use it.

So far, I only have the one record loaded until I can figure out what to do for the 856 link.

Hi,

We've loaded our records. Unfortunately, the link takes you to the
MyLibraryDV page where you are asked to download software, rather than
to the title (it's assuming the majority of those connecting don't have
the software yet, I guess). I did ask the MyLibraryDV folks about it a
while back & they said that's a main complaint they're hearing from
libraries.

Once you have the service downloaded to your PC, you need to access it
through that icon - which kind of negates the point of putting the
records in the catalog except to, hopefully, entice new people to use
the service.

Look up America's Test Kitchen for examples of our records

We have not yet loaded records for MyLibraryDv but we have videos from
OverDrive in our catalog and we design an icon for emedia video .
Search for title: Captain Kidd to see and example.

I would be interested in this also as I have a library that wants us to
load a file on nearly 400 records. The 856 would be in item records and
all would link to the same login page of MyLibrary. We also think we
need a new Format/Mat type code such as e-Video.

If anyone is using the Recordable Books video service MyLibraryDV and has loaded the MARC records into your catalog, I'd like to take a look at how you have your 856 field set up and if you have a MAT TYPE icon to
display in your browse displays.
If you do, could you share a link to your catalog and a record that shows your 856 link?
Many thanks!
