Eva,

I had asked the Help Desk about this when I changed the fields that display in the item summary. The reply then was that you can change the width by dragging the columns to make them more wide or narrow. The changes only stay for the session you are in; there is no way to make the changes permanent.

Hi Carol,
Thanks for your response. I know that it is possible to customize which fields display according to module. What I'm wondering is if it is possible to have column sizes of different widths so that variable fields like call no. and volume can be longer than location (maximum value = 5 characters) and other fixed width fields.

Eva,

Our MilCat logins have different columns than our MilCirc logins so I think you can ask the Help Desk to change which fields are shown. In our system, all the columns have the same width. I do not know if that can be altered at this time. It is worth asking the Help Desk. If I recall correctly, when we asked for changes to columns we were told there was one setting for each module. For example, all MilCirc logins have the same columns displayed.

Hope that helps.

Carol

Does anyone know if it is possible to customize the item summary display to have smaller column widths for fixed field data? I know you can change the size on your screen, but can you get it to stay like that?

I'd like to ask III to add copy no., itype and status to our summary display, but I don't want to do this if all columns have to be the same fixed width. This would make call no. and volume displays too small. We only need the fixed length codes to be as long as the codes. Is this possible?

Thanks, Eva *********** Eva Sorrell Principal Cataloger/Technical Services Librarian Pfau Library California State University, San Bernardino 5500 University Parkway San Bernardino, CA 92407
