Using release 2006LE.

I've been experimenting with WebBridge on our staging port, and I think I must be missing something really obvious.

Apart from making a resource "active", what determines whether a category and it's associated resource(s) appear when the More Information button is clicked?

I've been activating and deacvtivating various resources as supplied by Innovative to see what they look like and how they behave, and I've noticed that some resources/categories don't appear once they are activated, and I can't find any differences in the setups of like resources.

Resources belong to categories, and categories are assigned to origins. To determine what categories (of resources) appear in the WebOPAC, you specify the categories in your origin definition for the WebOPAC.

For a resource to appear, it must belong to a category assigned to the origin. Additionally, most folks apply data tests to the resource definitions so that the resources only appear under appropriate conditions. For example, say you have access to a business database and an art encyclopedia. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to offer users a link to the business database from a bib record for an art book or to the art encyclopedia from a bib record for a business book. Applying data tests that determine the general subject area of the bib record allows WebBridge to make the call. Absent any data test(s), a resource should appear as long as it belongs to a category assigned to the origin.

BTW, there's a closed WebBridge list run by Innovative. Contact the help desk to subscribe.
