Rapid update is for fixed-length codes. You'll have to use global update
(in the Millennium cataloging module) for something this complex. See
Page # 106345 of the manual "adding to the end of variable length
fields."
The whole art of the manual is finding the appropriate section. Often,
I get there faster through the tree structure than either an index
search or keyword.

Subject: [IUG] Rapid update question
I would like to rapid update a large group of brief records for our
videorecordings in which the 245 contains only the title of the video,
i.e., 245 10 Gone with the wind. I would like to add
|h[videorecording] to each 245 in this group, but can I use rapid update
to do this and, if so, just exactly how do I do that (the manual pages
on rapid updating are not helpful -- in fact, I find the manual to be
the single most difficult document to use I have ever seen). Thanks!
