As I wrote some time before we had the same problem, but with checkin holdings records. Subfield |x data from fields 866, 867, 868 show in public display, which is quite confusing for patrons. It happens without hitting MARC display button, just at the first view. III answer is that the fix is scheduled for Release 2007. No solution offered what to do untikl then.

Subject: [IUG] WebOPAC display of check notes

Greetings,

I am following up on this thread from a couple of weeks ago originated by Anne Myers.

When we went to the OPAC and did a search for a serial, then selected
"Latest Received" to look at the display from the check card, there was
a
new button for MARC display. When I selected it, I was appalled to see
all
of the notes from our check record showing up at the top of the screen,
above the checkin detail.

The help desk says this cannot be turned off for card display only; I
have
to turn off MARC display completely, which isn't what I want to do
either.

Apparently this is an improvement, although having them suddenly visible
to
the public without any kind of clarity that clicking on a MARC button
would
do that, especially after putting them in records for 19 years, did not
make
my day.

You might want to check your systems to see if you like this option or
want
to turn off MARC completely, if you have it. I plan to submit an
enhancement request.

We discovered the same symptom. I reported it to III yesterdayand got what seems to be a satisfactory solution. After a bit of experimentation, III was successful in turning off MARC for the checkin card only. USF's call tracking number is c984202 if you would like to see if what they did for us works for you.
