We worked with this idea & the item records were suppressed. But once they are suppressed, that's it? There's no way to have a button or link on the screen that will let you see them?

It would be simpler if the bib_display.html would let us separate the holdings records from the item records, but it doesn't. That I can understand ...

Susan,

The system comes with a standard code for suppressing item records in the ICODE2 field. In our case, it is the letter "n" (yours might be different). I would recommend using this instead of editing the webpub.def file. It is just much easier to handle that way. If you have had ASAA training, you could actually change this to whatever code you want. If not, you would have to contact Innovative to adjust your Suppression rules.

Subject: [IUG] webpub.def - suppress item records?

For our serials scope, we'd like to suppress item records because they are misleading - we only make them when a volume circulates - the checkin record has all the info we want to show.

I've tried every thing I could think of based on what the documentation says & doesn't say:

- i|$||||| doesn't work at all
- i|1|||||c| will suppress one of the fields, but if I
suppress all the fields, they all appear
- if I keep in one field that we don't use, the lines appear -
they are blank - but there's this empty table.
- if I try suppressing the subfield a, it still appears (this is
the only way I've been able to suppress bib fields)

Has anybody been successful in suppressing item records? What did you do?
