The J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, service-oriented
professional to serve as Cataloging Librarian. For further details about

Responsibilities:
* Provides original and complex member cataloging for monographs
(including United Nations documents and gifts), moving images in all
formats, E-books, databases, and websites.
* Resolves problems in areas related to cataloging expertise, both for
support staff and in the online catalog.
* Assists in formulating and implementing cataloging policies and
procedures.
* Participates in conversion projects as needed.
* Participates in professional activities and in library and university
faculty governance.
* Performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Requirements:
* ALA-accredited MLS degree or equivalent degree.
* 2 years professional experience in original cataloging of materials in
a variety of formats, preferably in an academic library.
* Experience working in an automated Library system (preferably
Innovative Interfaces).
* Experience using OCLC (preferably the Connexion client), Library of
Congress classification and subject headings, MARC formats, AACR2, and
Library of Congress Rule Interpretations in a working environment. 

Preferred Requirements:
* Current knowledge of cataloging trends.
* Familiarity with current metadata standards.
* Familiarity with authority control.
* Experience with Catalogers Desktop and ClassWeb.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Flexibility.
* Attention to detail.
* Excellent computer skills.
* Demonstrated involvement in continuing education and professional
activities. 

Position Information:
* Full-time.
* Faculty status. Librarians are expected to show evidence of ongoing
professional development and services to the profession.
* Works under the general direction of the Head of Cataloging.
* Excellent benefits package.
* Salary: Competitive and dependent upon education and experience,
minimum $35,000.
