- Subject: [IUG] Checkin display problem
Dear all,
In our Web Opac in checkin (holdings) records, the 866, 867, 868 field |x subfield is not surpressed from the public view.
In character based OPAC the display of checkin record is ok.
The data in the subfield |x of fields 866, 867, 868 should be surpressed as it is in MARC21 "internal use" subfield. We store there some technical info, like "COMPUTER ONLY" or, worse some internal abbreviations and acronyms known only by serials catalogers. We contacted Innovative and they responsed they would correct it in Release 2007. It means for more then half a year our confidential data will be on public domain and that the system does not fully support MARC21, I dare to say. It would give, among other things, a lot of troubles for our circulation and reference staff, forced to answer questions like: "What does it mean: v1z1br23-36?".
Any of you encountered the same problem and, if so, how did you deal with it?
Regards
