Re: [IUG] 3M Self Check communication delays?

We have what might be a related issue except we can not auto log on to start self check. III does not respond in appropriate time to complete the log on. We must manually start the self check program after it has failed and windows is all done loading. This is 1 of 3 devices and is the only one that uses windows operating system. It is also at a remote branch. It seems ok once it is up. It may have started after upgrade to 2006. At least that is the only system changes we can track to the time frame this problem appeared.

Good day,

A problem developed recently, affecting communication between our 3M 7410
Self Check and the Innopac server. There is a delay in response from the
Innopac so severe, the 3M unit will declare itself out of service. Even when
the Self Check does not post a communication failure message, it is so slow
patrons tell us it is broken. We've had to mark it 'out of order'
altogether.

Has any other site observed a similar problem with a 3M unit?

It's quite clearly a problem on the III side, and acknowledged to be so. I
have a call open. If we can determine whether this is unique to us, or not
unique to us, that may help diagnose the problem.

We have only the one unit, but it does carry 8% of this site's traffic and
is preferred by many of our patrons. They really want us to fix this.

Thank you,
