Re: [IUG] How big is your IT?

Hal,

We are an academic law library (a bit bigger than medium size I suppose?
just over 400,000 vols. and vol. equivalents) and we have one FTE IT staff.
It¹s a very big job! We continue to seek staffing and workflow responses to
the varying priorities, demands and issues which ³pop up² daily, involving
technology. I believe we could easily hire 2 more FTE employees to help with
all the technology interfaces in our library and the law college. I just
hope our newly hired (the other quit) IT staff doesn¹t burn out. I also
think that there are some very serious salary issues (i.e., low pay) within
most IT positions, when you consider their skill sets and importance of
quick diagnosis and proper resolution of technology problems which they
encounter continually.

Subject: [IUG] How big is your IT?

We are a medium sized public library. As the pressure rises to deliver (and
manage) more and more services electronically, I am curious as to how many
people your institutions are able to dedicate to website and catalog
development. If you read between the lines, you can tell it is budget
negotiation time.

Thanks for any information,

Hal
