I have a hack, but unless somebody can find out if it is perfectly ok
with
Amazon, do not use it. I have tried to contact Amazon, but got no
reply, so we are not using it.

The hack:
BIBIMAGE=http://images.amazon.com/images/P/%s.01.00TLZZZZ|i|http://your_
library_catalog_address/search/i?%s

What this does:
A click on the image, instead of going to Amazon, will go to the full
bib display from your catalog. In other words, most patrons would
expect that a click on the image displays the full bib, not the Amazon
link, unless you have stated somewhere on your catalog site that the
book cover goes to Amazon.

Note: "01.00TLZZZZ" determines the size of the image.

Subject: [IUG] ITsharing meeting idea for next IUG conference

Hello everyone!

It's early Sunday morning and as I sit here reading the wonderful
responses to my Amazon.com link quandry, it occurs to me that perhaps
some of us could put our expertise together and share what we're doing
in our catalogs by way of inserting or writing or borrowing or downright

*stealing* code that enhances the catalog in some way as the Amazon
cover art does for us.

This is just an idea, but I know there are so many of you who are far
more creative than I am--I usually rely on you guys. So what do you
think? Would any of you be willing to share some of your ideas?
Perhaps we could start by having a discussion of this online here
sharing our site addresses and some of the techniques, tricks, and code
we're using. Amazon is one idea of course, widgets another, and of
course Casey Bisson's catalog via WordPress. (Love to know how he did
that in detail--Casey if you're listening???? :-) )

If any of you are interested, please let me know and I'll put the
details together for the IUG conference. If our discussion grows on the

list, perhaps we could create a wiki/blog for it as well, and I'll be
happy to do that as well.

Let me know.

Sunday in St. Paul,

Deb
