These are all great ideas. One of the things that we have not launched yet (that we want to) is a wiki for sharing these types of tricks that really do not lend themselves to the Clearinghouse. Ultimately, I think it will be all merged together into one resource. Terry Reese and Kyle Bannerjee are working on this along with all sorts of great changes to the IUG Website.
One of the things that we can do is take some of these smaller ideas or 'hacks' and add them to the Clearinghouse as is. For some entries, the entire content is in the description without links to other resources. However, one of the real benefits of the Clearinghouse is the fact that you can see the live link along with the resource or the script. The Clearinghouse is at (http://www.innovativeusers.org/clearinghouse).
One of the plans is to move the Clearinghouse to a blog format (not unlike Casey's work). We are using WordPress for our Jobs listing service and I think it is great (http://www.innovativeusers.org/jobs).
This ties back to something that I have always said, especially at my own programs. The brilliance of IUG is that the answers (at our meetings) often come from the back of the room. As we focus more and more on social software and collaborate authorship through blogs, wikis, etc., we want and need to do a better job of capturing the combined wisdom and knowledge of the people who are in the system every day.
Getting together at IUG is great and there will be Birds of a Feather sessions that can be used for this. If you need something bigger, just let Nancy Fleck (IUG Vice Chair) or me know.
Best -- Corey

Subject: [IUG] ITsharing meeting idea for next IUG conference
Hello everyone!
It's early Sunday morning and as I sit here reading the wonderful
responses to my Amazon.com link quandry, it occurs to me that perhaps
some of us could put our expertise together and share what we're doing
in our catalogs by way of inserting or writing or borrowing or downright
*stealing* code that enhances the catalog in some way as the Amazon
cover art does for us.
This is just an idea, but I know there are so many of you who are far
more creative than I am--I usually rely on you guys. So what do you
think? Would any of you be willing to share some of your ideas?
Perhaps we could start by having a discussion of this online here
sharing our site addresses and some of the techniques, tricks, and code
we're using. Amazon is one idea of course, widgets another, and of
course Casey Bisson's catalog via WordPress. (Love to know how he did
that in detail--Casey if you're listening???? :-) )
If any of you are interested, please let me know and I'll put the
details together for the IUG conference. If our discussion grows on the
list, perhaps we could create a wiki/blog for it as well, and I'll be
happy to do that as well.
Let me know.
Sunday in St. Paul,
Deb
