External Description:
The Information Services Department of the Hirsh Health Sciences
Library 
is responsible for providing and developing services to meet the 
information needs of the staff, students and faculty of the schools 
comprising the health sciences campus. The department's major
activities 
are user education, reference, document delivery, informatics
training, 
web site content development and maintenance, and staffing the
combined 
InfoCirc Desk.

The Head of Information Services will:
-Manage and supervise the activity of the HHSL's Information Services 
Department;
-Promote access, both in person and online, to the HHSL and its 
supported information resources;
-Participate in the development of library and departmental
objectives, 
chiefly to meet the information needs of the patron community;
-Represent the department, library and university on appropriate 
committees;
-Work closely with Public Services, Library Systems and Collections 
Management departments.

Required Qualfications: ALA recognized MLS or equivalent
qualifications. 
At least 5 years of experience in an academic health sciences, or 
special library. Knowledge and experience with biomedical information 
resources. Experience with reference and end-user instruction. A 
demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize diverse
responsibilities, 
and work collaboratively with a diverse group of colleagues, both
within 
the library, and throughout the University. Understanding of document 
delivery technologies and issues. The ability to incorporate
technology 
into library services. A commitment to personal professional growth
and 
staff development.  

Minimum Salary:  $65,000
