<>Information Services Division Head /Reference and Instruction Librarian <>

EWU Libraries seek an innovator and catalyst for change in developing library programs and services. This leadership position will guide Information Services to find creative, student-centered approaches to fulfilling the Libraries' mission to "stimulate and support intellectual inquiry." <>

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following: <>
Actively engages with the EWU faculty and students to identify and meet their information needs in an evolving information environment. <>
Demonstrates a strong commitment to service and instruction and brings out this commitment in others. <>
Directs and coordinates the operations of Information Services units, including : reference and instruction; library systems; special collections and university archives; interlibrary loan; non-print media collections and services; K-20 instructional resources. The Information Services Division includes 9 library faculty and 9 classified and administrative staff. <>
Provides leadership in adoption of new technologies in delivery of library services, including services to distance learning programs. Supports Information Services staff in experimenting with technologies and techniques to improve library services and programs. <>
Leads digital asset management at JFK Library and identifies opportunities for collaboration in digitization initiatives. Coordinates current digitization projects and plans for future ones. <>
Ensures divisional priorities, resource allocations, and expenditures serve the established goals of the division and the library. <>
Models best practices in delivering reference and e-reference services. Participates in delivery of instruction in the use of information resources to classes based on subject specialization and departmental liaison assignment. <>
Participates in library committees and working groups. Assists with the ongoing development of the library's Web site. Collaborates with colleagues and clients across the university and the region. <>

This full-time, 12-month tenure-track position reports to the Associate Dean of Libraries. Administrative duties constitute 25% of the workload for this position. <>

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Meet qualifications for a Librarian II or (preferred) Librarian III position as defined in the Library Plan (http://www.ewu.edu/x43072.xml).

· Demonstrated success in leadership and management of personnel and operations.

· Active participation in professional dialogue and contribution to academic librarianship

· Enthusiasm for and knowledge of the application of technology in libraries and current trends in library technology.

· Commitment to excellence in performance of reference and instruction.

· Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication, organizational, problem-solving and planning skills. Ability to collaborate effectively.

· Commitment to excellence in services to students, faculty, and staff.

Salary range: Starting $58,000+ with appointment rank of Librarian II or III, depending on qualifications.
