Head of Reference, Cooper Library
Clemson University Libraries
Clemson University seeks a librarian with vision,
flexibility, enthusiasm, initiative, and strong
service orientation to lead the Reference Unit of
Cooper Library, the main library of Clemson
University. This is a 12-month tenure-track
position with faculty rank and status.
Required: ALA-accredited MLS degree; 3-5 years
professional experience and demonstrated skills
in reference, instruction, and collection
development in an academic or research library;
demonstrated skills directing and evaluating the
work of others; superior communication skills
applied in professional settings; excellent
interpersonal skills evidenced by cooperative
work and maintenance of effective working
relationships with colleagues, faculty, students,
and staff; demonstrated commitment to service;
evidence of flexibility and ability to manage
multiple tasks; ability to meet criteria for reappointment and promotion.
Preferred: Clear understanding and knowledge of
reference best practices, current trends, new
technologies, and assessment; library management
or leadership experience; proven problem-solving
and organizational skills, including ability to
plan, organize, and implement projects;
understanding of the instructional and scholarly
needs of students and faculty at a research
university; demonstrated ability to set
objectives and priorities; budget management
skills; advanced degree in a subject area; experience in effective teaching.
Salary and benefits: Minimum $55,000; rank and
competitive salary based on the successful
candidate?s qualifications and experience.
