Our system is set up with code hierarchies. All libraries are 2 letter
codes. Patrons should get only 2 letter home libraries. Bibs get only
the 2 letter codes through link maintenance. But no items should get a
2 letter location, they all should get more detailed locations. It's a
training issue but this differentiation makes it a little clearer.

It does seem there are other records where you only get the library
locations to choose from. It would be a good thing for them to add that
feature here.

Subject: [IUG] Home Library field in Patron record

We have a small number of Branch (location) codes which represent our
four library sites, each site code also has its own locations served
policy. Also we have a large number of Branch codes which represent
specific locations in each library. In our patron records we only ever
use the library site codes in the Home Library field. I was wondering if
it is possible to limit the list of locations that appear when you click
on Home Library in a patron record to only display the 4 branch/site
codes. Has anyone done this? It would make it easier for staff to
enter/update this field and cut down the number of errors.
