Hi all,

I'm throwing this out for what it is worth. Maybe it will help some
other poor sap not spend an hour plus like I did puzzling over this. We
went Pro yesterday so I am busy examining our live files to make sure
everything will work right and look pretty close to the old look when
patrons return for spring semester. We have an old, pre-Silver look in
live which previous to this didn't use briefcit.html, webpub.def or a
style sheet. I created a briefcit.html that came pretty close to
mimicking the old look and just had Innovative create a webpub.def when
they did the conversion (actually it did that when we went up to Rel.
2006). I'm finding I need to add a style sheet with just a few entries
to override some of the default things that happened.

I was trying to reduce the size of the font in browse display, which was
large in IE but not Netscape 8 which I use (kind of in between in
Firefox). I was editing the class I thought it should be in
ie_styles.css but nothing was changing. Decided to copy the edits into
styles.css before giving up so at least the two files were the same and
viola!- the font changed. So apparently there are only some classes that
need the ie_styles.css but of course we need to keep the two in sync
anyway to cover our bases. I thought the line in mainmenu that says if
IE6 use ie_styles.css meant everything from then on in IE would use
ie_styles but I guess it makes sense that the system generated pages
wouldn't say this so would follow styles.css more. The bottom line is
.briefcitTitle { font-size: 85%} does change the font size of the record
browse display in IE.
