RE: [IUG] Flagging an item at check-in

Don,

The only way I know of doing this is to insert a "message" field in the
item record when it is created or edited. If you have multiple message
fields only the first one will display when an item is checked out/in.
We have a message field set up in our item records for laptops. The
message tells the desk personnel to check for laptop, external floppy
drive, power cord, case, etc.

Subject: [IUG] Flagging an item at check-in

We are looking at methods for flagging items to alert the circulation
clerk to look for supplemental materials (maps, charts, diagrams) that
should be in an envelope with the journal issue at the time of check-in
. This is specifically for serials.

We do not barcode every issue. We barcode on the fly during check-out.

We do not necessarily want to barcode each individual piece of
supplemental material.

How are any of you handling this?

Thanks,

Donald Wheeler
