[IUG] Renewals for a booked item

Hi,

        I have a mystery that I wonder if someone has a idea.  We 
have an item with a booking that is currently also checked out.  The 
item has a loan rule that allows a one day renewal, the system will 
not allow the renewal even if the new due date does not conflict with 
the booking.

        eg.     Item due date 10/3/06
                Booking period  10/5/06 - 10/07/06
                Item should be renewable to10/4/06 but appears to be 
blocked by the booking beginning on 10/5/06.

Has anyone else seen something like this?
