Re: [IUG] Re: Headings report question

We were a beta site several years ago for the Millennium headings reports. We found the bug with the catdate then and have continued to track it. Because of this bug, our normal workflow is to print the report from character, clear it, do the work in Millennium and check off the headings on the paper report so we can see what headings didn't make it in Millennium. We also clear the Millennium report each week The workflow isn't as bad as it sounds and because we frequently order rush video items, we don't want to miss checking those headings since videos tend not to be cataloged by LC, thereby having more authority problems.

If we ran our reports daily like Ann does, we probably wouldn't see the problem but for our amount of cataloging, a weekly workflow makes more sense.

We really wish this would get fixed since the character version works just fine.

I don't know if this is affecting others as well, but there appears to be another bug not fixed with 2006 -- we can't select any of the filters without causing the session to end and forcing a server restart. For the most part, that's not a problem, but we are in a consortial situation with one other library and I would like to be able to exclude their records as well as our records with a number of conditions such as those marked for deletion.

I didn't know the details you mentioned, Barbara, but it may explain why some records aren't showing up in the FTU report.

Deb, FYI, just so you know, there is a bug in creating the FTU report when you exclude records without a catdate. Background: we run our headings reports on a weekly basis. Order records do not have a catdate and are suppressed. The cataloged record that overlays it does have a catdate and is not suppressed so all the headings should be checked. However, if both the order record and the cataloging record are added since the last time the FTU report was created and cleared (for us records created and then cataloged within the same week), the bib record is excluded from the report because the system does NOT re-check the catdate at the moment the report is created. New headings on this bib record will NOT appear in the FTU list. For us, this problem usually occurs because we rush ordered an item and then cataloged it within the same week. This is a known issue that was supposed to be fixed in release 2006 but we are on release 2006 and the problem is still occurring. So depending on the workflow you decide to implement, you may need to be aware of this bug.
