RE: [IUG] missing records

Donna:
I recently learned this from a good colleague of mine.
When you move items from one location to another, you must perform
location changes in both the item record and the bibliographic record to
effect the changes globally. It seems to me that the items in the new
location were not showing up in the webpac because the bibliographic
records were not changed. Unfortunately, global update for bibliographic
records is still a function performed in the character base. I have
attached herewith a training manual that I used with my cataloging
librarian this summer. Hope it helps in effecting the changes.

You can call me directly if you need further assistance with this.

Subject: [IUG] missing records

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me solve our latest dilemma. This past
year we created a storage area for items that could no longer fit in our
main library. We created new item locations in the system and globally
updated all item records. We did not change the bib location in the
record. Most of the items sent to storage were books with low checkouts
and our holiday books. Recently the Children's Librarian wanted a list
of all Halloween books for a display. We began the search in the Webpac
by using "Halloween" as a keyword and limited it by location of
"Juvenile Collection." Once we reviewed the list we noticed the item
records for those items in storage were not showing up in the webpac. I
have reviewed the manual and listserv achieves with no luck. Below is a
link to our catalog if you want to repeat the search you will see the
bib record information is there but no item record info.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Donna
