HISTORY IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION.
The Electronic Resources Librarian position will select, acquire,
implement and provide access to library electronic resources including
electronic journals, databases, and e-books. Assist with the maintenance
of electronic resources, identify missing content, resolve IP
authentication issues, and manage licensing agreements. Collect and
analyze usage statistics and other management reports. Monitor trends in
e-resource management, consortia agreements, and contribute to the
assessment of electronic resources. Investigate and implement library
related electronic resource management systems to improve workflow and
assure user access to resources. Proven ability to offer new approaches
and innovation as appropriate to the position. Participates in librarian
key work activities such as reference, instruction, collection
development and liaison to appropriate departments, in addition to
serving on library and university committees. Provides general guidance
and supervision for library staff members. Other duties as assigned.
This position may require a flexible work schedule including evenings
and weekends.
Qualifications:
Required: A.L.A. accredited M.L.S. degree. General reference experience
preferably in an academic library or medium size or larger public
library setting. Demonstrated knowledge of a full variety of on-line
database products and trends in on-line service access via webpage.
Knowledgeable of trends and developments in collection development for
academic libraries. Demonstrated commitment to the concepts of customer
service and teamwork Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, solve
problems and make appropriate decisions or recommendations. Commitment
to professional growth and development. Demonstrated ability to
prioritize and coordinate work among different projects. Excellent
communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills to interact
with diverse individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and
outside the university.
Desired: Experience in working with vendors of library materials.
Experience selecting library materials for an academic library or medium
size or larger public library. Experience offering bibliographic
instruction in a public or academic library setting.
