RE: [IUG] New Book Shelf

We have a new book shelf and use a location code which shows up in the OPAC - it tells patrons and staff exactly where to find new items easily. Each new book gets a "New" spine label and we write the "Pull" date or expiration date on the label. This can be checked easily upon check-in and also makes it quick to browse the shelves at the end of the month to pull the expired New items. If the shelves get too full before the end of the month we can quickly scan the shelves to find the "oldest" New items to pull. The labels are easily pulled off and the location code changed by circ staff.

Subject: [IUG] New Book Shelf
I'd like to talk with other institutions who have a new book shelf and use
Millennium. Do you use a location so that it displays in the OPAC or an
item status? Do you pull materials on a regular schedule & use rapid
update or how do you handle these items?
