Mary,

We upgraded to 2006 without upgrading the JRE, i.e., stay on the 140_8

I have not tested if 150_6 will reproduce the same circ problem we
experienced under 2006LE. So far, 140_8 has not given us any trouble yet
and we have been on 2006 for over two weeks now.

Could someone clarify that the recently reported circ issues have all
arisen with Rel 2006 and the new JRE? In other words, is it safe to
upgrade to Rel. 2006 so long as we don't load the new JRE?

We are on Release 2005 and have not yet upgraded to 2006. We did
however upgrade to JRE 150_06 and had the same problems as you did in
2006. After reading everybody's suggestion to drop back down to 142_08,
we switched back to the earlier version and the problem went away in
Release 2005.

We had two of our libraries experience the same thing after upgrading to
150_06. When returning to 142_08, the problem went away just as you
describe. I did not open a call or report it to the helpdesk, however.
I
probably should have.

We are on 2006LE and tested the new JRE (150_06), thinking we might roll
it out before we upgraded to 2006. We found out that we couldn't renew
any items while in a patron's record. We reverted back to 142_08 and had
no problems.

No response from the helpdesk so far. Anyone else experience anything
like that?

Janice

You need to download and install the client separately from the
Millennium
upgrade process. I'm planning to install 150_06 on my PC and test it
under 2006LE. If it works (no glitches) I'll install it on staff PC's
prior to the upgrade. If there are glitches, I'll copy the Mil
directory,
install 150_06, rename both directories and use the existing client
until
after the upgrade. Then I'll delete the old client and recopy the150_06
into the Millennium directory (after clearing it). I was going to do
something similar (just renaming separate copies) but Jason Boland (Circ
product mngr) and my IT Specialist both recommended using the original
Mil
directory and copying releases to it.
