Hi Corey,
Thank you for the information. Neither factor applied to us, but your
email helped facilitate some brainstorming and we managed to dissect a
small fund to try and figure out the discrepancies.
It looks like Expenditures pulls information from the RDATE or the INVD
while the Statistics field report pulls information from the PDATE in
the order records.
Thanks again,
-Cindy

It is very possible that there will be some differences between the statistical reports and the financial reports. It comes the basic way that they are pulled together.
The primary difference between the two is that the statistical reports only can pull information from the records that are in the system. This gives you tremendous potential to get data for the current year, the past year, or any year where you have the records in the system. Where things get tricky, and this might be the problem that you are seeing, is if you are using x-records (invoice entries not tied to an order record) OR you use Adjust Fund Balances to enter expenditures. Both of these two factors will lead to a difference in the two values. It is a not a shortcoming, but a different way of approaching the data.
With the statistical reports, you will not be able to pull out encumbrances or appropriations, but you will certainly be able to see the expenditures.
Does this help?

Subject: [IUG] Millennium Statistics - order record field statistics relation to fund expenditures
Hello,
Acquisitions is not my forte and I need to explain a nearly 7%
discrepancy between total expenditures in the funds file and the results
of a field statistics report, using the fiscal year. I'm assuming there
is some kind of overlap in the invoices and how the are dated, but I'm
not sure what to point to.
Does anyone have a better understanding of the difference in how the
funds file and statistics collect the invoice information?
Thank you for any help,
-Cindy
