[IUG] Deleting a subfield

Good Day,

I need to delete a subfield from an 856.   Our 856 fields have a
subfield v that is mostly dates of the form yyyymmdd.   I have tried any
number of regular expressions to no avail.  I don't want to have to
figure out all the dates and do it that way (although that would work).
Is there a way to delete a subfield from a record that I'm missing.  I'm
open to any suggestions.
