I have added the Amazon links for cover art, and it works like a charm. There is one problem, to wit:

When a patron clicks on the small image, a bigger image displays in an Amazon window as described. However, it is in the SAME window, so if the patron clicks on the "Close Window" button, the complete OPAC window is closed. The patron has to open a new browser and start over. The large image should open in a new window, not the same window. I realize patrons can use the back button instead, but many will not.

I have tried other possibilities for the target="window" part of the BIBIMAGE wwwoption, but always get the same result. Things tried: target=window, target="_blank", target=window_test Do other OPACs exhibit similar behavior? If so, do you consider it a problem? What to do about it?
I have used a trick

BIBIMAGE=http://images.amazon.com/images/P/%s.01.00TLZZZZ|I|http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/%s"; target="_new

Observe the symbol "

There may be help on the Amazon Web Services site, but I have not been able to find the part of the site that describes the procedure for linking to cover art.

Hi Deb,

We display book jacket images from Amazon in our WebOPAC and in the
Millennium staff modules.

I asked and received permission from Amazon before proceeding. Under the
terms of their Web Services agreement a link to Amazon must be included
on our pages. We do this with a link in our WebBridge bib panel. There
were no other stipulations imposed by Amazon when granting permission
other than a caveat to keep checking the usage page periodically as the
rules are subject to change at any time.

We initially did this as an experiment after the decision was made not
to purchase Syndetics. If Amazon were to change their policy or begin
charging (which they might do if enough libraries begin using them as a
source for images) I expect we would be willing to pay for them either
from Amazon or another vendor. They do brighten up the catalog and are
well received by patrons.

You need to add the following BIBIMAGE wwwoption:
BIBIMAGE=http://images.amazon.com/images/P/%s.01.00TLZZZZ|i|http://www.a
mazon.com/gp/product/images/%s/ref=dp_primary-product-display_0/?
target="window"

Right now clicking the jacket image in the WebOPAC brings up a larger
image which does nothing else. When I get a chance I'm going to try to
modify the code so that users will be able to link to Amazon directly
from the image.
